Hotspots you shouldn't miss
Ik weet nog mijn allereerste keer uit eten in Amersfoort: het pannenkoekenrestaurant De Kabouterhut. Het absolute hoogtepunt van mijn dag. Sterker nog, jarenlang dacht ik dat dát het summum van culinair genieten was. Inmiddels ben ik iets ouder, iets wijzer en durf ik zelfs een gerecht te bestellen zonder stroop. De Kabouterhut staat niet meer op nummer één, maar één ding is nooit veranderd: als je ergens lekker uit eten wilt, hoort Amersfoort absoluut in de top.
De stad zit vol knusse straatjes, verborgen pareltjes en restaurants waar de geuren je al tegemoet komen voordat je überhaupt een stoel ziet. En voor je het vraagt: nee, dit wordt geen kritische Angela-de-Jong-column waarin elk gerecht wordt gefileerd alsof het een slecht tv-format is. Ik ben simpelweg iemand die restaurants nog steeds een beetje beoordeelt op of ze, heel eerlijk, ook goede pannenkoeken zouden kunnen maken.
Dus, volledig subjectief en in willekeurige volgorde, hierbij de 10 favoriete restaurants in Amersfoort van mij & mijn collega's:
Hot Coals

At Hete Kolen, they love good food without any hassle. No difficult terms, no complicated frills, just incredibly good dishes from a kitchen where their Josper barbecue has now been joined by a sturdy stove.
Restaurant Pure
Sustainable & Organic
At Restaurant Zuiver, it's all about pure food without fuss. No e-number show here, but sustainable, organic, and seasonal ingredients that are so fresh that they almost tell you where they come from themselves.
In the middle of the forests of Amersfoort you will find their beautiful, renovated building. Classic on the outside, stylish and modern on the inside.
Restaurant Rauw
Artisanal & robust
At Restaurant Rauw, they don't like to do things by halves. Here, everything is truly made from scratch, from the bread to the sauces, and you can taste that in every bite. The kitchen runs on pure flavors, craftsmanship, and a healthy dose of culinary muscle.
The atmosphere? Tough, industrial, and just raw enough to do justice to its name. You can see the dedication of the kitchen team not only, but you can taste it above all.
Bistro 't Kannetje

At At Bistro 't Kannetje, you step right into the historical heart of Amersfoort, and it immediately feels like you are entering a place where you have been for years. The restaurant is located on the Lieve Vrouweplein, with a lovely terrace at the foot of the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren in the summer, and a cozy fireplace in the winter that almost makes you ask for an extra drink.

At De Aubergerie, you enter a world where French refinement and Mediterranean warmth come together. Han and Ingrid Everts run this restaurant, distinguished with a BIB Gourmand, with just the right mix of high-level hospitality and a relaxed, warm atmosphere, no stiffness, but top quality.

At Restaurant Rootz, we try not to pat ourselves on the back too much (although we must admit: it wouldn't hurt). Despite being slightly biased, as we work here ourselves, we dare to say that Rootz is a place where your senses are stimulated and you might just accidentally embark on a culinary journey, without needing your passport.

At Restaurant Novice, dining out feels a bit like finding yourself in the middle of a culinary adventure.
